In response to the news of a devastating fire in the Wadder Payeen village of Handwara that left many families homeless on December 30, CHINAR Kashmir came forward with immediate assistance in the form of bedding, blankets, pherans, kitchen utensils, rice, spices and cooking oil. This aid was distributed amongst the 27 affected families on January 11/1/2017. CHINAR Kashmir has a long history of disaster relief in Kashmir. We have done extensive work in Uri during the 2005 earthquake, rebuilt homes in several districts after the 2014 floods, assisted in Waltengo during the 2005 avalanche, and provided relief during other small calamities.Read More
Continuing with the efforts for mitigating the suffering of needy people by way of undertaking Relief and Rehabilitation work CHINAR Kashmir (Child Nurture & Relief Kashmir) donated an Ambulance for use by Bone & Joint Surgery Hospital Srinagar on 19/12/2016. The vehicle was handed over to Dr. Qaiser Ahmad, Principal Govt. Long after most people have forgotten about the devastating impact of the September 2014 floods, we continued to offer our help in assisting the families who had lost their homes. In the past few months we completely rebuilt 3 homes with help of (Rs 9.54 Lacs) from Revive Kashmir USA), and assisted in the reconstruction of 20 homes – 13 of them with the help of (11.8 Lacs ) Australian Kashmiri Association and 7 with the help of(Rs 9.87 Lacs) British Kashmiri Charitable Fund.

Our much-awaited skills training program for youth – Skills Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED) started with a Designing and Tailoring program for a group of 16 women from the Budgam area. At the completion of the training period the trainees will be equipped with the skills to start their own business. The training is offered at our new facility in Budgam which also houses the new CHINAR Home.Read More
