  • Start of our SEED Program

    Our much-awaited skills training program for youth – Skills Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED) started with a Designing and Tailoring program for a group of 16 women from the Budgam area. At the completion of the training period the trainees will be equipped with the skills to start their own business. The training is offered at our new facility in Budgam which also houses the new CHINAR Home.

  • RCSP Support and Growth

    J&K Bank continues to be our biggest corporate sponsor. In addition to sponsoring 50 children in our RCSP program and the salaries of two Program Monitors of RCSP, they also donated a bus to us which now takes the CHINAR Home children to their school.

  • New CHINAR Home

    We moved into our own brand new home in October 2015. The entire CHINAR team worked very hard to make this happen and we are grateful to the generosity of our donors that made it possible. Needless to say the children of CHINAR Kashmir are super excited to be in the new home and to have lots of space available for playing. Once spring arrives and trees are planted the place will be a green haven for the children.

  • Success in Exams

  • Photography Exhibition

    We organized a photo exhibition Moments: A Chronicle of Childhood  in July 2011 to showcase some of the photographs that the children of CHINAR Home had taken during a month long photography workshop given by our summer volunteer from U.S.A Fatima Padela. She taught the children basic photography skills and allowed them to explore their creativity. The children showed a remarkable degree of creativity as well as an unexpected insight in capturing the essence of their childhood at CHINAR Home. The exhibition was a celebration of that childhood,  of their resilience in the face of many odds, and of their  accomplishments—big and small. It was a peek into their life as seen through their eyes.
