When a medical emergency strikes, the focus naturally lands on the patient inside the ward. But behind almost every hospital bed stands a family member who refuses to leave their side—spending sleepless nights in cold corridors, skipping meals, and enduring severe physical and emotional exhaustion.
Extending our two-decade legacy of caring for vulnerable children, families, and communities in Jammu & Kashmir, CHINAR Kashmir has opened the doors to RAHAT (Rest, Assistance, & Hospitality for Attendants in Transit) right near Bone & Joint (B&J) Hospital, Barzulla.
Why RAHAT Was Established
For families traveling from remote villages and distant districts to Srinagar for emergency orthopaedic care, basic human necessities become an added hardship. Attendants are often forced to sleep on hospital benches or pavement, with no access to hot water, clean sanitation, or affordable hot meals.
RAHAT was created to restore comfort, health, and dignity to these caregivers during their hardest days.
Facilities Provided at RAHAT
All the above facilities within close proximity of Bone and Joint hospital for immediate response from attendants when needed. Each attendant staying at the facility shall kindly make a token contribution of ₹50 per day towards supporting this initiative.
How You Can Support This Initiative
While the nominal token fee of ₹50 per day helps with minor daily upkeep, running hot water, clean linens, electricity, and daily meal preparation relies on community support. Your generosity ensures that no family member has to sleep in hospital corridors or face hunger while caring for a hospitalized relative.
