Skills Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED) Program is one of the most important initiatives of CHINAR Kashmir (CK). The main objective of this initiative is to empower economically marginalized individuals (especially women) and to create self-employment opportunities.
Note: Some faces have been blurred out on request to respect the privacy of our beneficiaries.
One of the initiatives under this program is to provide vocational training for young women to develop their Designing, Tailoring and Sewing skills, thus enabling them and their families to earn and live a self-sustained life. Also, as an encouragement, we provide free Sewing Machines and tools to the hardest working and dedicated young women, so that they can straightaway become entrepreneurs after completion of the training. Currently we run a six-month program, with 20 trainees per batch, aiming to create self-employment opportunities.
We provide a six-month vocational training in designing, tailoring, and sewing, with 20 trainees per batch.
The most dedicated participants receive free sewing machines and tools to start their own businesses.
We also support the well-performing trainees to start their own businesses post graduation.
SEED program is initiated in areas where the target groups reside and who can actually benefited by this program.
Once a particular area is saturated with trained individuals, the centre is shifted to a new place where such facilities are unavailable for girls who are eager to undergo this program.
A group of girls from Srinagar, after graduating from our SEED program, formed a collective. Utilizing the skills they learned, they established a small enterprise specializing in stitching readymade wear in bulk. Their initiative and teamwork have led to a growing business, providing them with a steady source of income and a platform to showcase their talents.
Your donation helps us provide training and tools for a self-sustained future.
