ABOUT US

CHINAR Kashmir is a non-political and non-profit organization focusing on improving the lives of marginalized children, women and families. We are based in Jammu and Kashmir and run several innovative programs geared towards social and economic empowerment of women and youth; ensuring familial care and education for vulnerable children; and providing material assistance to impoverished families whose homes need repairs due to damage caused by natural disasters or other reasons.

We have been active in Jammu and Kashmir since 2004 when we started with our pilot project – a home for a group of orphaned boys and girls in Srinagar. We have since grown to include several other programs but our core values – of providing quality assistance with accountability and transparency at its heart – have remained the same.

We have also done extensive disaster relief and rehabilitation work in Kashmir since 2004. Our work has been supported by generous monetary donations from both individuals and corporations as well as through the boundless energy and hard work of our team of dedicated volunteers.

CHINAR Kashmir is a registered nonprofit organization, registrered under the Societies Registration Act , VI of 1998 (1941 A.D.)
CHINAR Kashmir is also registered for PAN: AAAAC4578Q, CSR: CSR00021893

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

“In the autumn of 2004, we opened the doors of CHINAR Kashmir Home to a small group of orphaned boys and girls. This, our pilot project, was an endeavor to provide a loving home, a mother’s care and stability to children who had lost their families. In the ensuing decade we have grown to run several other programs aimed at providing stability and succor to children and families. The CHINAR Kashmir Home is now housed in our own spacious facility instead of a rental accommodation. Through the support of our RCSP program a large group of disadvantaged children, from many parts of J&K, have managed to continue their education. We have done extensive relief and rehabilitation work during the natural disasters that have struck this region in the last decade. We are also providing a measure of dignity to marginalized families by repairing their homes. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our countless donors, the unwavering support of our well-wishers and the energy and enthusiasm of our young volunteers. On behalf of the entire CHINAR Kashmir family, I thank you all.”
