The 15-Day Digital Literacy Program for Visually Challenged Students concluded today, marking a significant step toward digital inclusion. This pioneering initiative equipped 10 students with essential computer literacy and braille skills, ensuring they have the tools to navigate the modern digital world. Organized by CHINAR Kashmir in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Association (JKHCA), ENABLE India, and Benetech, this program reinforced the collective commitment to empowering differently-abled individuals.
Held at CHINAR Kashmir’s state-of-the-art campus in Khanpora, Budgam, the program provided visually impaired students with a structured and enriching learning environment. It was meticulously designed to equip them with the necessary skills to break barriers, foster independence, and unlock new opportunities.
CHINAR Kashmir ensured world-class infrastructure, inclusive learning spaces, nutritious meals, and comprehensive operational support to facilitate a seamless learning experience. ENABLE India played a crucial role by donating laptops, while Benetech generously sponsored the training sessions. The smooth execution of the program was made possible through JKHCA’s excellent coordination efforts.
This initiative was led by two dedicated disability activists and senior volunteers, Abrar Ahmed (JKHCA) and Abdul Wajid (CHINAR Kashmir). Their tireless dedication and the unwavering support of their respective teams were instrumental in making this program a success.
Beyond training, the program was a symbol of empowerment. Each student received laptops and essential accessories, allowing them to immediately apply their skills and take their first steps toward education, employment, and independence.
