In response to the news of a devastating fire in the Wadder Payeen village of Handwara that left many families homeless on December 30, CHINAR Kashmir came forward with immediate assistance in the form of bedding, blankets, pherans, kitchen utensils, rice, spices and cooking oil. This aid was distributed amongst the 27 affected families on January 11/1/2017.
CHINAR Kashmir has a long history of disaster relief in Kashmir. We have done extensive work in Uri during the 2005 earthquake, rebuilt homes in several districts after the 2014 floods, assisted in Waltengo during the 2005 avalanche, and provided relief during other small calamities.
