Quarterly News

It has been a while since we have been in touch with you all. A lot of things have happened in the past few months. Let me update you about what have we achieved in last few months.

  • CHINAR Home Programme(CHP):

 

Seven CHINAR Home children qualified Board Exam of various classes and it was a moment of celebration for all of us. Other children have also have also done in their school exams. We have also added six new family members to CHINAR Home Family so far. The total number of children at CHINAR Home is 31 now. We also held a “GET TOGETHER” at CHINAR Home where all the well wishers and donors get an opportunity to meet and interact with the children of CHINAR Home.

 

  • Remote Child Sponsorship Programme(RCSP):

22 beneficiaries of RCSP have qualified Board Exam of various classes in the beginning of this year. The process of monitoring of this programme strengthens with every day by frequent visits of our staff to their homes, schools and tuition centers. Currently we have 135 children in this programme and we take care of all the educational expenses of these children.

  • Scholarship for Training and Education for Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate(STEP-UP)

This programme focuses to help those students who have no source of income to continue their higher studies. We select students on the basis of merit and particularly those who are in technical courses like MBBS, BCA, BBA, Nursing so that after completing their degree they immediately start earning. We have so far helped 17 such students to complete their higher studies.

 

  • Skill Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED):

 

Under this programme we have been able to train women/girls in the communities only. We have three centres running under this programme one in Ompura Budgam, One in Narkura Budgam and another in Kishtawar. At Ompura, two batches have completed the cutting and tailoring training, at Narkura and Kishtawar, one batch of girls at each centre has completed the training.

 

  • Giving Housing Assistance and Relief(GHAR):

Under this programme we have helped few families from different areas of valley like Peerbagh, Boniyar and Kupwara to either rebuild their houses or repair their roofs of houses.

 

  • Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation(DRR):

 

After working for earthquake hit victims of 2005, flood victims of 2014 and fire victims of Handwara and Narwal Jammu, CHINAR Kashmir continues to help people to rebuild their houses after disasters. We have recently helped few fire victims of Zaindar Mohalla Habbkadal to rebuild their houses damaged due to fire.
