The picturesque valley of Warwan recently witnessed a tragic fire that devastated over 70 families, leaving their homes in ashes and livelihoods in ruins. As winter approaches, these families face the dual challenge of surviving the extreme cold and rebuilding their lives.

How CHINAR Kashmir Intervened to Help
In response to this crisis, CHINAR Kashmir took swift action to relieve the affected community. A total of ₹5,03,500.00 was distributed among 44 families based on the extent of damage and family size. This effort was guided by a detailed survey conducted by the CHINAR Kashmir team in October and November 2024. The financial assistance will help families secure essential winter supplies, food, and shelter while ensuring that their cattle—an integral part of their livelihood—are adequately fed.

Extending Help to Neighboring Villages
During the survey in November 2024, the CHINAR Kashmir team also reached out to the adjacent villages of Rekenwaas and Sukhnai, where many families struggled to meet their winter clothing needs. As part of their relief efforts, around 100 new ladies’ pherans and suits were distributed free of cost to women in these villages. This gesture aimed to provide warmth and comfort to those in need, ensuring they could face the harsh winter with dignity.

Mobilizing for a Greater Cause
While these distributions mark a crucial step towards recovery, the road ahead remains challenging. Many families are still in dire need of support to rebuild their homes and lives. CHINAR Kashmir is committed to mobilizing further resources to restore hope and dignity to the Warwan community.
We thank you all for your kind donations and support towards this cause. Your contribution made a significant impact in helping the Warwan families survive the harsh winter and take the first steps toward rebuilding their lives.
