OUR PROGRAMS

At CHINAR Kashmir, we are committed to improving the lives of marginalized communities, especially children, women, and families in Jammu and Kashmir. Our programs are designed to empower, educate, and uplift those in need, providing them with the tools and opportunities to build a better future.

CHINAR Kashmir Programs
This is a home for a group of orphaned boys and girls who are being cared for in a familial environment by live-in caregivers (Mothers). The children are provided quality education in good private schools and in-house tuition. A myriad set of extra-curricular activities including photography, music, computer training, art and games etc are also organized so as to ensure a well-rounded education. We are proud to offer an enriched, comfortable, and joyful home for our children.
Through this program we provide assistance to socially or economically disadvantaged children without moving them away from their environs. Our monthly support includes food, school fees, stationery, clothes besides other basic needs and has beneficiaries from various parts of J&K including Ladakh. We also have a frequent assessment drive where our field officers visit the children to guide them and ensure they are performing well.
The objective of this program is to empower socioeconomically marginalized youth and, by extension, their equally disadvantaged families and communities. Through the SEED program we provide them training in marketable vocational skills that would allow them to earn a livelihood.
Scholarship, Training and Education Program (STEP-UP) helps students who are keen in continuing their higher studies but unable to pursue due to weak economic conditions caused by unexpected loss or ill health of a parent leading to drop in family income, or for any other reasons.
During the devastating floods of september 2014 our organisation was actively engaged in relief and rehabilitation work. In addition to providing immediate relief to hundreds of affected people in Srinagar and beyond we did extensive work in rebuilding homes in three different regions- Beighpora in Pulwama, Nayi Basti in Anantnag and Suthra shahi in Srinagar.
The floods of September 2014 left behind thousands of damaged homes and lives. Although there has been considerable effort by the government and NGO’s like CHINAR Kashmir in providing home repair and rebuilding assistance, the task is so huge that it will take years if not decades for it to be completed.
Apart from our five main domains, we also do many other miscellaneous projects from time to time.
